Calling all lovers of Classic Reggae!

Stella Vision Films Present a Film Screening of the Classic Film:

COUNTRYMAN 

on Friday 18th May 2012 - 7.30pm. 

This is the film that was dedicated to Bob Marley and influenced the iconic soundtrack featuring Bob Marley and the Wailers,  Toots and the Maytals and Steel Pulse.  This film presentation begins with a 10 minute documentary about the making of the film. 

Synopsis:   Countryman tells the story of a Jamaican fisherman whose solitude is shattered when he rescues two Americans from the wreckage of a plane crash. The fisherman, calledCountryman, is hurled into a political plot by the dangerous Colonel Sinclair. Countryman uses his knowledge of the terrain and his innate combat skills to survive.

Synopsis
This is a documentary about a journey to Sierra Leone, West Africa, seen through the eyes of Louis Buckley a 25-year-old Jamaican English man who was born and grew up in England.

After a long desire to visit the continent of Africa and learn more about his history he finally decides to visit the country of Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone is rich in natural resources, yet today its recorded to be one of the poorest countries in the world. Louis arrives in Sierra Leone while it’s recovering from an 11-year civil war, which devastated the whole country.

He heads out to discover first hand about the countries past, offering a unique narrative and perspective. The question is what happened in the days of the British empire and how did this country get to this point? The documentary has a hip-hop & reggae fused soundtrack with stunning visuals of the landscape. The Lion Mountains looks at pre-colonial Sierra Leone, the beginning of African & European trade, slavery, resistance, the 1807 Abolition Act & some of the effects of Western imperialism and colonial rule.

Red Tails - New WW2 Film Direct by George Lucan

The film stars Cuba Gooding Jr, who also stared in the 1995 film Tuskegee Airmen with Laurence Fishbone about the same group of black fighter pilots.




The cast also includes Terrence Howard the actor singer and rapper who had his film break in Mister Holland’s opus. starring along side Richard Dreyfuss and the iconic Olympia Dukakis
Bryan Cranston who is best known for his role in the T.V. smash hit Malcolm in the Middle.
A side note whilst at college for a part-time job Bryan became a ordained minister .







Other actors include  Nate Parker who played Henry Lowe in Great Debaters directed be Danzel Washington also signed up are David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Aml Ameen, Cliff Smith (aka Method Man).
